SPECIAL RECOGNITION

WHEREAS, Judy Martini first served on the Lake County Board, representing District 1 from 1994 to 2008. After returning to Lake County from Kentucky, she was elected to serve as a County Board Member to represent District 5 in 2016; and

WHEREAS, serving District 5, which includes areas of Fox Lake, Ingleside, Lakemoor, Volo, and portions of Wauconda, Lake Villa, Round Lake, and Spring Grove, Judy Martini's priorities have been fiscal responsibility and transparency, protecting natural resources and helping those less fortunate, including expanding programs for homeless veterans, mental health services and senior housing choices; and

WHEREAS, Judy Martini served on many committees, most recently as a member of the Energy and Environment, Legislative and Rules committees; and

WHEREAS, she is recognized as a Board Member who was consistent, came prepared, asked good questions, worked tirelessly for her communities and helped push fellow Board Members to consider how they could serve their constituents. Her advice was to listen to residents because sometimes the hard part of being a Board Member is leaving your personal opinions aside and voting the way constituents need. She says sometimes that's the hardest vote to take; and

WHEREAS, during her tenure, she also served on the Lake County Partners Board of Directors, Lake County Liquor Control Commission, and the Lake County 2020 Complete Count Committee; and

WHEREAS, helping Lake County to promote tourism and economic growth, Judy Martini served as the County Board liaison for the Lake County Convention and Visitor's Bureau; and

WHEREAS, a Round Lake resident, Judy Martini will continue her public service as she was elected last April as the Grant Township Clerk. She also looks forward to give more time to the volunteer work that she loves.
