Special recognition to Roycealee Wood for her years of service to Lake County.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Roycealee Wood, a native of Rockford, Illinois, is a graduate of Rockford East High School and holds Bachelor and Master's degrees from Northwestern University. She has also completed doctoral graduate Administrative study and received the superintendent endorsement certificate from National Louis University; and
WHEREAS, Wood served the North Chicago Public Schools as a teacher, guidance counselor, assistant principal, guidance director and as the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction; and
WHEREAS, On November 5, 2002, she was elected as Regional Superintendent of Schools for Lake County and was re-elected to four additional terms, the most recent in 2018. In this role, she had interaction with and responsibility for the 45 Lake County school districts, three Special Education Cooperatives, the Lake County High School Tech Campus and the Lake County charter schools; and
WHEREAS, Roycealee Wood established the Regional Office of Education Foundation, which awards scholarships to Lake County students who will be pursuing two- or four-year degrees; and
WHEREAS, Roycealee Wood believes, "Every child should have an opportunity to be successful every day"; and
WHEREAS, she has served in many civic roles including as a member of the Rotary Club of Waukegan, the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff League of Women Voters, Waukegan American Association of University Women, Illinois Association of School Administrators, Illinois Association of Regional School Superintendents, Beta Upsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Education Sorority, Chicago North Shore Chapter of Zeta Phi Eta Communications Sorority and Phi Delta Kappa Lake-Kenosha-Racine County Chapter; and
