SPECIAL RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Lake County’s strength is rooted in our people and their diversity. All sexual orientations, all genders, all races, all religions, all countries of origins, all incomes, and all who live, work and play in Lake County are welcome here; and
WHEREAS, Celebrate Diversity Month was created to recognize and celebrate everyone’s unique cultures, backgrounds and traditions in the workplace, school, home and in our communities. By recognizing and respecting each other’s differences and similarities, people will get a deeper understanding of each other and a greater appreciation for the diversity that surrounds us; and
WHEREAS, Lake County’s diversity is a source of pride for our communities and recognizes that people of all backgrounds contribute to our democracy and strengthen our communities, culture and economy; and
WHEREAS, there are many ways to celebrate diversity in your community such as attending a cultural art exhibit, playing music from around the world and supporting minority-owned businesses; and
WHEREAS, Lake County stands against any verbal or non-verbal attacks, harassment or intimidation that disrespects or degrades people’s identities, needs and beliefs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RECOGNIZED, that the Lake County Board does hereby proclaim April 2021 as Celebrate Diversity Month and encourages all residents to celebrate our great diversity and to affirm Lake County to be a welcoming community for all.
