Physical Health
Provider Collaboration
• We have a physician position open at the Zion Health Center due to the recent and unexpected resignation of Dr. Elizabeth Nodine, Family Medicine.
• We have two open physician positions currently posted for which Leadership continues to interview. We may hire some combination of Family Medicine and/or Pediatrics and the Health Center location may vary as it would depend on our needs at the time.
• Providers reviewed the appropriate and safe use of opioid medications.
• Several providers and clinic staff have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Clinic Operations
• The Respiratory Illness Clinic (RIC) located at our North Chicago Health Center, continues to treat patients with COVID-19 symptoms. Coverage is continually adjusted to reflect the current need.
External Relations
• Chicago Medical School (CMS) students in the primary care clinics will resume for the next clerkship.
• Two Physician Assistant students from Rosalind Franklin University began their rotation in Women’s Health on January 4, 2021.
• Rosalind Franklin University students, faculty, and staff have volunteered to work in the mass vaccination program.
Regulatory
• Preparation for The Joint Commission (TJC) and Health Resources and Service Administration (HRSA) surveys continue with a focus on completion and review of policies and medication management education and monitoring.
• Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) will conduct their annual accreditation survey of the School-Based Health Center in Round Lake on February 9, 2021.
• All of the above surveys will be conducted virtually at this time due to COVID-19. Staff are working with Health Informatics and Technology to establish connectivity on the multiple virtual platforms that will be used (i.e., Teams, GoToMeeting, Citrix fileshare, Webex, GoogleMeets). In preparation for each survey, the staff will practice mock surveys on each platform.
Psychiatry - MAT
Provider Collaboration
• No updates to report.
Clinical Operations
• No significant FQHC-related changes in clinical operations. Most services continue to be provided using telephone or video encounters.
• The Behavioral Health Medical Director position has been posted.
External Relations
• Nothing new to report.
Regulatory
• TJC preparation continues.
Dental Health
Provider Collaboration
• Recruitment efforts for a dental hygienist for Midlakes Health Center continue.
• Several dental providers were vaccinated in December as part of the mass vaccination.
Clinical Operations
• As of December 28, 2020, dental services at all six dental practice locations continue and include all services provided pre-COVID-19. A robust COVID-19 screening process for patients seeking oral health services is being utilized. Patients are screened via phone prior to their appointment as well as when they arrive at the practice location the day of their appointment.
External Relations
• No updates to report.
Regulatory
• TJC readiness is ongoing.
• Dental Assistant staff have completed additional Infection Control and Sterilization training which included a competency and skills assessment measures.
