Title

Discussion regarding the sale of the abandoned Mundelein Water Reclamation Facility site in Vernon Hills to support the construction of a 2,000,000-gallon Vernon Hills water system storage reservoir.

Staff Summary

An opportunity exists to purchase a site owned by the Village of Mundelein, within the Vernon Hills village limits, that would support the construction of a 2,000,000-gallon water reservoir.

The location identified is the most favorable site out of 10 evaluated to support system requirements and use restrictions.  This project is a top priority on the Public Works Capital Improvements Program list to support system storage requirements.

The Village of Mundelein has approved moving forward with the sale of the property at a negotiated price of $425,000, with the stipulation that an easement will be granted for access to their existing buried infrastructure.

Staff is seeking Committee concurrence to move forward with this opportunity. If

approval is granted, the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) will be presented for formal approval in March 2021.
