Staff Summary

                     A consultant will be utilized to provide these Phase II design engineering services to expand Lake County PASSAGE.

                     Lake County selects professional engineering firms in accordance with the Local Government Professional Services Selection Act, 50 ILCS 510/1 et. Seq.

                     The selected firm has a satisfactory past relationship with the Lake County Division of Transportation.

                     The selected, and recommended, consultant is DLZ Illinois, Inc., with a maximum cost of $76,647.45.

                     This improvement is included in the Transportation Improvement Program, and designated as Section 21-00268-24-TL.

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, Lake County, by and through its PASSAGE program, endeavors to interconnect traffic control signal systems situated throughout Lake County; and

 

WHEREAS, Lake County, by and through its Division of Transportation, plans to add approximately 11 Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) cameras, two miles of fiber optic cable, three wireless connections, one cellular connection, and connect six traffic signals to expand the Lake County PASSAGE network; and

 

WHEREAS, it is advisable that a professional engineering services firm be employed to provide Phase II design engineering services; and

 

WHEREAS, Lake County, by and through its Division of Transportation, has selected a professional engineering services firm in accordance with the Local Government Professional Services Selection Act, 50 ILCS 510/1 et. seq.; and

 

WHEREAS, DLZ Illinois, Inc., Chicago, Illinois, are consulting engineers skilled in the provision of Phase II design engineering services for traffic signal enhancements; and

 

WHEREAS, an appropriation of funds is required.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that DLZ Illinois, Inc., be employed to provide said Phase II design engineering services at a maximum cost of services of $74,647.45 to add approximately 11 PTZ cameras, two miles of fiber optic cable, three wireless connections, one cellular connection, and connect six traffic signals to expand the Lake County PASSAGE network along various routes in Lake County, and that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized and they are directed to execute, on behalf of Lake County, a contract and any subsequent amendments, for consultant engineering services between Lake County and DLZ Illinois, Inc., a draft of which is attached hereto.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement, and any subsequent amendments, to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk.  

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is hereby appropriated $90,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds for these engineering services, and designated as Section 21-00268-24-TL.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this agreement be administered in accordance with Chapter 605, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes without further Board action, providing the final contract cost chargeable under the funds appropriated does not exceed the appropriation.
