Joint resolution authorizing a supplemental appropriation of $50,000 of County Bridge Tax funds for the replacement of the Robert McClory Bike Path Bridge over Illinois Route 176 by the Village of Lake Bluff in partnership with Lake County.

 

Staff Summary

                     The County Board, at its February 12, 2019 meeting, approved an agreement with the Village of Lake Bluff and appropriated $100,000 of County Bridge Tax funds for this improvement.

                     The Village secured an Illinois Department of Natural Resources grant for the project that will cover up to $87,600, and the remaining costs will be split 50/50 between the Village and the County.

                     The Village conducted a public bid opening for the project, and the low bid construction amount came in above the engineer’s estimate.

                     The total cost for engineering and construction of the improvement is now estimated to be $368,266.

                     A supplemental amount of $50,000 is needed to cover the County’s 50/50 share of the project costs.

                     This improvement is included in the Transportation Improvement Program and designated as Section 19-00173-16-BR.

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, the County Board, at its February 12, 2019 meeting, approved an agreement with the Village of Lake Bluff and appropriated $100,000 of County Bridge Tax funds for this improvement; and

 

WHEREAS, the Village has secured an Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) grant for the project that will cover up to $87,600 of the project cost; and

 

WHEREAS, the agreement between the Village and the County stipulates a 50/50 cost share of the total engineering and construction costs that exceed the IDNR grant amount; and

 

WHEREAS, the Village held a bid opening for the project and the low-bid price came in above the engineer’s estimate.  The total project costs are now estimated to be $368,266; and

 

WHEREAS, the County will increase the amount to reimburse the Village for the County’s 50/50 share of the project up to a maximum amount of $150,000; and

 

WHEREAS, a supplemental appropriation of funds is required.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that there is hereby appropriated a supplemental amount of $50,000 of County Bridge Tax funds for this improvement and designated as Section 19-00173-16-BR.
