Joint resolution appropriating $175,000 of 1/4% Sales Tax for Transportation funds for the acquisition of necessary right-of-way, by agreement or condemnation, and other right-of-way costs associated with the intersection improvement of Ela Road at Long Grove Road.
Staff Summary
* Ela Road at Long Grove Road will be improved with the installation of a new traffic signal, addition of turn lanes, and non-motorized improvements.
* Preliminary plans and right-of-way plats identifying the right-of-way needs for the improvement have been prepared.
* This improvement is included in the Transportation Improvement Program with targeted construction in 2022, and designated as Section 14-00144-20-CH.

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Ela Road, County Highway 60, and Long Grove Road, County Highway 43, are designated routes on the County highway system; and
WHEREAS, it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the traveling public if the Ela Road at Long Grove Road intersection be improved; and
WHEREAS, Lake County, by and through its Division of Transportation, has caused to be prepared preliminary plans and right-of-way plats identifying right-of-way needs for the improvement; and
WHEREAS, property appraisals have been prepared and associated right-of-way costs have been estimated.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board:
SECTION 1: It is hereby determined that it is necessary, and desirable, that Lake County acquire title to, and possession of, all of the real property within the proposed new right-of-way lines of the Ela Road at Long Grove Road intersection, together with construction and other easements, both temporary and permanent, for said intersection improvement, all as outlined in plats of highways made under direction of Shane E.
