Joint resolution authorizing an agreement with the NICOR Gas Company for the relocation of a gas main for the intersection improvement at Fairfield Road and Monaville Road and appropriating $192,000 of 1/4% Sales Tax for Transportation funds.
Staff Summary
* Fairfield Road at Monaville Road will be improved with the installation of a roundabout.
* The NICOR Gas Company has a gas main located within improvement limits that must be relocated.
* The gas main is located within a superior easement which causes Lake County to be responsible for the cost of gas main relocation, estimated to be $160,000.
* This project is included in the Transportation Improvement Program with construction planned to begin in 2021, and designated as Section 15-00120-06-CH.

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Fairfield Road, County Highway 49, and Monaville Road, County Highway 55, are designated routes on the County highway system; and
WHEREAS, to ensure the free flow of traffic and the safety and welfare of the traveling public, Lake County is desirous of improving the intersection of Fairfield Road and Monaville Road by constructing a roundabout; and
WHEREAS, the NICOR Gas Company has a gas main located within the project limits that needs to be relocated to accommodate the upcoming intersection improvement; and
WHEREAS, the NICOR Gas Company and Lake County are desirous of entering into an agreement stating the terms and conditions for the relocation of the gas main, a draft copy of which is attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, an appropriation of funds is needed.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County, Illinois, are authorized, and are hereby directed to enter into an agreement, and any amendments, between Lake County and the NICOR Gas Company, stating the terms and conditions for the relocation of a gas main for the intersection improvement at ...
