Physical Health
Provider Collaboration
• There are two new full-time physicians. Rajbir Grewal, MD, will start at Midlakes Health Center mid-October and Seema Khan, MD, will start at Zion Health Center late October.
• We are recruiting for two more providers to replace Danilo Alesna, MD, who is retiring in early December and Yelena Kolezeva, MD, who resigned on September 25, 2020.
Clinic Operations
• Kim Burke, Director of Healthcare Operations, is examining the current staffing of the clinics to ensure we are meeting the appropriate level of staffing.
External Relations
• The Health Department is working with Rosalind Franklin University on their graduate nursing program and APRN certification in Psychiatry.
• Dr. Zun, along with two colleagues, wrote the featured article titled, “Global Pandemic Impact on Behavioral Health Delivery” in the Physician Executive Forum Newsletter for the American College of Healthcare Executives.
• Dr. Zun presented a lecture at the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) International Meeting titled, “Evidence Based Evaluation and Treatment of the Psychiatric Patient in the Emergency Department.”
Regulatory
• The Joint Commission (TJC) consultant completed a two-day review and provided a number of recommended improvements to ensure compliance.
• The focus for October is infection control.
• All clinically related policies are being reviewed and revised, as needed.
• The antibiotic stewardship program is reviewing the prescribing of antibiotics for patients with viral syndrome and pharyngitis.
Psychiatry - MAT
Provider Collaboration
• Daram Reddy, MD, has agreed to serve as Interim Behavioral Health (BH) Medical Director until a permanent replacement is hired. Dr. Reddy has been with the Health Department since April 1991.
Clinic Operations
• There are no significant FQHC-related changes in clinical operations. Most services continue to be provided via phone or video.
External Relations
• Nothing new to report.
Regulatory
• TJC readiness is ongoing.
Dental Health
Provider Collaboration
• We are currently actively recruiting for a Dental Hygienist for Midlakes Health Center. Their role will be to engage in providing preventative services as well as some periodontal services.
Clinical Operations
• Continuing to provide dental services at our six FQHC locations.
• Mitigation Systems: MHEPA filters for dental offices were received; awaiting the delivery of our extraoral suction unit.
• Once mitigation systems arrive and are installed, we anticipate service expansion in October. Service expansion shall include restorative care, dentures, and dental sealants.
Regulatory
• TJC readiness is ongoing.
• Each site has undergone a Sterilization Room walkthrough as part of TJC readiness.
• Annual Sterilization Training is being developed by our training team and is planned for October as an eLearning.
• Infection Control and Sterilization Observational Competencies are anticipated to begin in late October or early November.
