Joint resolution authorizing an agreement with Bloom Companies, LLC, Chicago, Illinois, at a cost of $48,010.94, for the provision of Phase II design engineering services to stabilize existing retaining walls on the east and west sides of Fairfield Road, north of Illinois Route 60, appropriating $60,000 of Matching Tax funds for these services.

 

Staff Summary

                     This project includes stabilizing existing retaining walls on the east and west sides of Fairfield Road, north of Illinois Route 60. 

                     A consultant will be utilized to provide Phase II design engineering services, including a geotechnical investigation and report which will be used during the design process.

                     Lake County selects professional engineering firms in accordance with the Local Government Professional Services Selection Act, 50 ILCS 510/1 et. seq.

                     The selected firm has a satisfactory past relationship with the Lake County Division of Transportation.

                     The selected, and recommended, firm is Bloom Companies at a cost of $48,010.94.

                     This project is included in the Transportation Improvement Program, and designated as Section 20-00145-05-GM.

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, Fairfield Road, County Highway 49, is a designated route on the County highway system; and

 

WHEREAS, the existing retaining walls on the east and west sides of Fairfield Road, north of Illinois Route 60, are in poor condition and in need of repair to prevent failure; and

 

WHEREAS, it is advisable that a firm be employed to provide professional services to determine appropriate repair strategies and develop plans and specifications for said retaining wall repairs; and

                     

WHEREAS, Lake County, by and through its Division of Transportation, has selected a professional engineering services firm, Bloom Companies, LLC, Chicago, Illinois, in accordance with the Local Government Professional Services Selection Act, for said design engineering services.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that Bloom Companies, LLC be employed to provide professional design engineering services for the provision of Phase II design engineering services to stabilize existing retaining walls east and west of Fairfield Road, north of Illinois Route 60, at a cost of $48,010.94 and that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized and they are directed to execute, on behalf of Lake County, a contract, and any amendments, for the provision of said engineering services for the retaining wall repairs with Bloom Companies, LLC, Chicago, Illinois, a draft copy is attached hereto.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement, and any amendments, to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk.  

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is hereby appropriated $60,000 of Matching Tax funds for these engineering services, and designated as Section 20-00145-05-GM.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this agreement be administered in accordance with Chapter 605, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes without further Board action providing the final contract cost chargeable under the funds appropriated herein does not exceed the appropriation.
