Special recognition honoring National Child Abuse Prevention (Blue Kids Lake County) Month.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, National Child Abuse Prevention Month is recognized throughout the United States as well as Lake County; and
WHEREAS, child abuse is considered to be one of our nation’s most serious public health problems with scientific studies documenting the link between the abuse and neglect of children and a wide range of medical, emotional, psychological and behavioral disorders; and
WHEREAS, preventing child abuse and neglect is a problem that depends on community involvement, and effective child abuse prevention programs are successful because of partnerships created among state and local government agencies, schools, faith communities, civic organizations, law enforcement agencies and the business community; and
WHEREAS, created in 2011 to keep children safe, Blue Kids Lake County promotes public awareness of child abuse through the creation and display of Blue Kids signs throughout the county during the month of April and by providing educational material on its website; and
WHEREAS, there are many social service organizations in Lake County, as well as park districts, libraries, exchange and rotary clubs, municipal and civic organizations, and private citizens that have partnered with Blue Kids Lake County to prevent child abuse.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RECOGNIZED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that National Child Abuse Prevention Month is a reminder of the on-going efforts by groups across the country to eliminate child abuse; and
BE IT FURTHER RECOGNIZED that the Lake County Board does hereby thank Blue Kids Lake County for the work it does to prevent child abuse and urges all residents in Lake County to increase their participation in strengthening families, thereby preventing child abuse and creating healthier communities.
