Discussion of Path to Net Zero Emissions.
Staff Summary
• During previous meetings, the Committee discussed the importance of the County achieving net zero emissions in its operations and directed the sustainability team to research options for achieving this goal.
• At the May 2019 meeting, the sustainability team presented a preliminary analysis outlining how net zero emissions can be achieved in Lake County government operations. The sustainability team followed up with the Committee in November 2019 with additional information on the path to net zero emissions, which also included a clarification on goals and strategies, and looked for direction from the Committee on next steps.
• At the direction of the Committee, the sustainability team is returning in order to provide more specific details on rationale, goals, milestones, and reporting requirements of the draft Net Zero Policy.
