• The WIOA Rapid Response Layoff Aversion Grant of $123,942.26 is to assist employers deemed as essential to mitigate layoffs and adhere to social distancing provisions established by state and federal health entities due to COVID-19.
• Five Lake County employers that met the essential business definition, documented a need for grant assistance to remain open and operational, provided supporting documentation and demonstrated a number of jobs to be saved with recipient of the grant funds were accepted by DCEO and grant funds were committed to fund the businesses’ applications.
• The grant period is June 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has provided WIOA Rapid Response Layoff Aversion Grant totaling $123,942.26 to the Lake County Workforce Development Department; and,
WHEREAS this funding covers expenses for essential businesses to mitigate layoffs and adhere to social distancing provisions; and
WHEREAS, this grant is for the program period of July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021; and
WHEREAS, an emergency appropriation of $123,942.26 is requested to allocate these funds into the Workforce Department’s county Fiscal Year 2020 budget and authorize acceptance of this grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that an emergency appropriation in the amount of $123,942.26 for the Workforce Development Department is hereby approved and that the WIOA Rapid Response Layoff Aversion Grant be accepted.
