Joint resolution appropriating $525[CK1][CK2],000 of 1/4% Sales Tax for Transportation funds for the acquisition of necessary right-of-way, by agreement or condemnation, and other right-of-way costs associated with the intersection improvement of Illinois Route 59 at Grand Avenue.

* Illinois Route 59 at Grand Avenue will be improved with the construction of turn lanes, drainage improvements, re-alignment of Washington Avenue and non-motorized improvements.
* Preliminary plans and right-of-way plats identifying the right-of-way needs for the improvement have been prepared.
* This improvement is included in the highway improvement program with targeted construction in 2022, and is designated as Section 10-00279-01-CH.

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, it would be beneficial for the safety and welfare of the traveling public if the intersection of Illinois Route 59 at Grand Avenue could be improved inclusive of non-motorized improvements; and
WHEREAS, the free flow of traffic on Illinois Route 59 at Grand Avenue is beneficial to the safety and welfare of the State of Illinois and Lake County as a whole; and
WHEREAS, Lake County, by and through its Division of Transportation, has caused to be prepared preliminary plans and right-of-way plats identifying right-of-way needs for the improvement; and
WHEREAS, property appraisals have been prepared [CK3]and associated right-of-way costs have been estimated.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board:
SECTION 1: It is hereby determined that it is necessary, and desirable, that Lake County acquire title to, and possession of, all of the real property within the proposed new right-of-way lines at Illinois Route 59 at Grand Avenue, together with construction and other easements, both temporary and permanent, for said highway, all as outlined in plats of highways made under the direction of Shane E.
