RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the County Board is concerned about the safety and welfare of the employees that comprise its workforce; and
WHEREAS, on March 18, 2020, federal legislation signed into law the Families First Coronavirus Response Act; and
WHEREAS, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act requires certain employers to provide employees with paid sick leave or expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, it is the clear intention of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act to require local government to adopt a Family First Coronavirus Relief Act policy in compliance with the Federal Law; and
WHEREAS, the Human Resources Department has consulted with the State's Attorney and other County Departments to create a policy to bring Lake County into compliance with this new federal legislation; and
WHEREAS, the County Board, in its role, is responsible for incorporating this policy into the Lake County Employee Policies and Procedures Manual to comply with the newly adopted Families First Coronavirus Response Act.
