Staff Summary
• Pursuant to 55 ILCS 5/4-10001, the County Board sets the compensation for elected officials not less than six months before those officials take office.
• Based on the election cycle, it is necessary to set compensation for the County Board Chair.
• The resolution reflects a salary freeze for years 2021 and 2022, eliminates the $3,000 stipend as Liquor Commissioner, and is consistent with the direction given by the Financial and Administrative Committee at its April 16, 2020 Special Meeting.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Illinois Law provides that the County Board shall fix the compensation of elected officials; and
WHEREAS, Illinois Law provides that the County Board shall set the compensation for elected officials not less than six months before those officials take office; and
WHEREAS, based on the election cycle, it is now necessary to set the compensation for the County Board Chair; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of your Financial and Administrative Committee that the compensation set forth below for the County Board Chair be approved by this County Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the compensation for the County Board Chair shall be as follows for the years indicated:
for the year 2021: $97,408;
for the year 2022: $97,408.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a $7,000 auto allowance be authorized to the County Board Chair.
