Staff Summary
* Lake County will reconstruct and improve 14th Street from Illinois Route 131/Green Bay Road to Sheridan Road.
* The Lake County Board, at its meeting on November 13, 2018 approved an agreement with the City of North Chicago stating the terms and conditions for these improvements.
* The construction contract for these improvements has been awarded and construction is underway and designated as Section 99-00260-01-WR.
* During construction, the location and condition of the City of North Chicago's existing watermain was found to be different from what was believed during design and needs to be replaced.
* The City of North Chicago and City of Waukegan have also requested a watermain interconnect be added to the scope of the improvements.
* The City of North Chicago's share of construction cost is now estimated to be $1,147,983.
* The City of North Chicago has agreed to reimburse Lake County over a five-year period beginning in May 2020.

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, to ensure the free flow of traffic and the safety and welfare of the motoring public, Lake County is desirous of reconstructing and improving 14th Street, from Illinois Route 131/Green Bay Road to Sheridan Road; and
WHEREAS, the City of North Chicago and Lake County entered into an agreement on November 13, 2018 stating the terms and conditions for the 14th Street improvements; and
WHEREAS, the construction contract has been awarded and construction work is underway; and
WHEREAS, during construction, the location and condition of the City of North Chicago's existing watermain was found to be different than what was believed during design and needs to be replaced; and
