Staff Summary
* At its November 2019 meeting, the Lake County Board authorized a contract with Sheridan Plumbing and Sewer, Inc., in the amount of $732,065.10 for Southeast Central Interceptor Heavy Cleaning.
* The original contract assumed typical winter conditions would allow cleaning to take place over frozen ground, not requiring installation of matting for work within wetland, floodplain, and bike trails owned by Lake County Forest Preserves.
* Due to warmer weather conditions and permitting requirements, the matting is necessary to ensure protection of wetland, floodplain, and bike trail while construction vehicles/activities access manholes under unsuitable ground condition.
* Staff has verified that the request for the change order is in the best interests of the County, and Sheridan will be able to complete the work for the price submitted.
