Staff Summary
• In June 2019, staff presented the Committee with a high-level overview of the status of landscape waste burning regulations in Lake County. At this same meeting, staff receive direction to conduct an analysis of the implementation of yard waste burning restrictions, scenarios for yard waste hauling services, begin documenting complaints of burning, and to conduct a GIS analysis of population and property characteristics of potentially affected properties.
• In December 2019, staff provided an in-depth overview of their research efforts based on the Committee’s direction. This analysis included an overview of the health concerns surrounding open burning, possible landscape waste hauling options for unincorporated residents, a detailed spatial analysis of potentially affected properties, and enforcement processes and considerations.
• Since that time, staff has conducted further research based on the Committee’s direction and will present their findings for discussion and direction.
