Staff Summary
* The TAA federal program provides funding for reemployment services to displaced workers who have lost their jobs as a result of increased imports or shifts in production outside the United States. The funds of $134,284.88 will be used for expenses associated with training and transportation of displaced workers and payment processing. The grant period is January 1, 2020 through September 30, 2020.
* The WIOA Rapid Response grant of $20,754 is for staffing expenses related to case management of the displaced workers. The grant period is July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2021.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has provided WIOA Rapid Response grant and Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) grants totaling $134,284.88 to the Lake County Workforce Development Department; and,
WHEREAS, this TAA grant is for the program period of January 1, 2020 through September 30, 2020; and
WHEREAS, this grant covers training and transportation expenses for displaced workers and payment processing; and
WHEREAS, WIOA Rapid Response grant is for the program period of July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2021; and
WHEREAS, this funding covers staffing expenses related to case management of the displaced workers; and
WHEREAS, an emergency appropriation of $155,038.88 is requested to allocate these funds into the Workforce Department's county fiscal year 2020 budget and authorize acceptance of this grant.
