Resolution providing for the appointment of Mr. John Light as Director of Human Resources.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, with the vacancy of the Director of Human Resources, County Administration advertised the position nationally; and
WHEREAS, more than 50 applicants submitted their credentials for consideration; and
WHEREAS, following the initial screening process, the search firm ranked the top 14 candidates based on established criteria; and
WHEREAS, based on the County Administration review, a five-member committee comprised of a human resources staff member, two representatives of county departments, a county department head, and an Assistant County Administrator interviewed the top seven candidates; and
WHEREAS, following the initial interview, four finalists were selected to be interviewed a second time by a five-member committee comprised of a human resources staff member, two county department heads; an Assistant County Administrator, and the Interim County Administrator; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Light having served as Human Resources Director for the City of Des Plaines, Illinois and as the County Administrator for Stephenson County, Illinois has the experience, leadership, and managerial qualities to be the Lake County Director of Human Resources; and
WHEREAS, the Interim County Administrator has consulted with the Chair of the County Board and Chair of the County Finance and Administration Committee and hereby recommends the appointment of Mr. Light as the Director of Human Resources for Lake County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that Mr. John Light be appointed Director of Human Resources at an annual salary of $155,000, with other terms and conditions and employment outlined in the Letter of Acceptance (attached hereto and made a part hereof); and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that said appointment shall take effect on February 26, 2020
