Joint resolution authorizing an agreement with the State of Illinois, by and through the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), for the modernization and interconnection of the traffic signals along Sunset Avenue, between Illinois Route 131/Green Bay Road and Illinois Route 137/Sheridan Road, appropriating $490,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds.

• The traffic signals along Sunset Avenue, from Illinois Route 131/Green Bay Road to Illinois Route 137/Sheridan Road, will be modernized and connected to Lake County PASSAGE.
• Traffic signals at the intersections of Sunset Avenue and McAree Road, Golf Road and Jackson Street, and Golf Road and Yeoman Street, will be rebuilt.
• $1,230,000 of Federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funds will cover approximately 80 percent of the project costs.
• $490,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds will cover the County’s local 20 percent share.
• This project is included in the highway improvement program, and designated as Section 12-00999-30-TL and State Job Number C-91-157-16.

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Lake County PASSAGE is a cooperative initiative of the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Lake County to implement an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) in Lake County; and
WHEREAS, Lake County and the State of Illinois believe it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the motoring public if traffic signals situated along Sunset Avenue, between Illinois Route 131/Green Bay Road and Illinois Route 137/Sheridan Road, could be modernized and interconnected with Lake County PASSAGE; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County are desirous of entering into an agreement for the County’s share of the above proposed improvement, a draft copy of which is attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, an appropriation of funds is required.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that the County Board chair, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized, and they are directed to execute on behalf of Lake County, an agreement, and any subsequent amendments thereto, pertaining to the financing of the above-named improvement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement and any amendments to be executed by the County Board chair and the County Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is appropriated $490,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds for the County’s share of this improvement, and designated as Section 12-00999-30-TL and State Job Number C-91-157-16.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this agreement, when executed in its final form, be submitted to IDOT for their approval and final processing.
