Body

Provider Collaboration

Offers were made to two APRNs, one for Zion and one for BMB.

The physician at Zion resigned as of January 9, 2020.

Three physician positions are currently open and being actively recruited for.

Clinic Operations

The Coleman Associates work at North Chicago continues. The latest numbers posted by the pediatrician’s team showed a cycle time of 57 minutes, no show rate of 18%, with a capacity of 87%. The next North Chicago provider to begin this process is Dr. Shami Goyal.

With decreasing volumes at North Shore, Dr. May Hassib has been moved to North Chicago.

We are working on a roadmap to reorganize the clinics to improve service and reduce wait times.

External Relations

Rosalind Franklin University is looking at starting graduate nursing programs including a psychiatric nurse practitioner program. They have asked LCHD to collaborate with them on these initiatives.

Dr. Zun was elected to Chair the Coalition of Psychiatric Emergencies.

Regulatory

In depth review of compliance with the Joint Commission standards on ambulatory care is ongoing.

Behavioral Health

Mid-January 2020, 12 hours/week of psychiatrist time will be added at 3010 Grand via telepsychiatry.

A letter of intent has been obtained and credentialing started for a full-time, adults only, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) at 3010 Grand with an anticipated start of January 2020.

A letter of intent has been obtained and credentialing started for a part-time (0.8 FTE) Psychiatrist at Midlakes Health Center with an anticipated start of February 2020. She will treat all ages, including children and adolescent.

A letter of intent has been obtained and credentialing started for a full-time, adults only, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) at Libertyville Health Center with an anticipated start of February 2020.

A position has been posted to replace a psychiatrist retiring Spring 2020 and applications have already been received.

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Libertyville Health Center resigned as of November 27, 2019, due to relocation for spouse’s new job.

Evaluation Clinic at 3010 Grand has started. Time to next available psychiatric appointment has decreased by approximately one month.

A new scheduling system is being piloted at Libertyville with Dr. Brian Salzverg that is more customer friendly in an effort to reduce the no-show rate and rescheduling of appointments.

Dr. Joshua Nathan, Behavioral Health Medical Director, spoke at National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Illinois Annual Conference on October 19, 2019 in Northbrook.

Dr. Nathan also serves on the Lake County Opioid Initiative Board.

Twenty first-year medical students from Rosalind Franklin have started their first clinical exposure. They are spending two ½-days at LCHD, one with Dr. Singh and one with Dr. Nathan.

One PMHNP student is currently engaged in clinical rotations with LCHD psychiatrists.

Discussions with Rosalind Franklin regarding other teaching opportunities are ongoing.
