Discussion of Clean Air Policies.
Staff Summary
• In June 2019, staff presented a high-level overview of the status of yard waste burning regulation in Lake County. This presentation included details on current regulations in the unincorporated areas, municipal yard waste burning standards, the availability of yard waste hauling, and a case study on McHenry County’s regulations.
• At this same meeting, staff received direction to conduct an analysis of the implementation of yard waste burning restrictions, develop scenarios for yard waste hauling services, document complaints of burning, and conduct a GIS analysis of population and property characteristics of potentially impacted properties.
• Staff will present the GIS analysis of the potentially impacted areas and waste hauling options for discussion.
