Staff Summary
• The Lake County Clerk’s Office currently owns 600 ePollbooks which are used for election judge training, early voting and election day voting. This amount is insufficient to adequately support the upcoming 2020 election.
• The Lake County Clerk’s Office is in need of an additional 100 ePollbooks in order to continue providing distinguished election service.
• The Lake County Clerk’s Office applied for and received an Illinois Voter Registration State Grant from the Illinois State Board of Elections and wishes to appropriate those funds for the purchase of these ePollbooks.
• Pursuant to the County’s Code, Chapter 55 of the Illinois Complied Statutes (55 ILCS 5/3-2003.2), the County Clerk has the authority to control the internal operations of his or her office and to procure the necessary equipment, materials and services to perform he duties of the Office.
• This resolution authorizes an emergency appropriation and authorizes the County Clerk to enter into an agreement in the amount of $145,300 for the purchase of 100 ePollbooks from Robis, Inc.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Lake County Clerk’s Office currently owns 600 ePollbooks, which is insufficient to provide adequate coverage to train election workers, and support early and election day voting for the upcoming election; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County Clerk’s Office is in need of an additional 100 ePollbooks in order to continue providing distinguished election service; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Counties Code, Chapter 55 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (55 ILCS 5/3-2003.2), the County Clerk has the authority to control the internal operations of his or her office and to procure the necessary equipment, materials and services to perform the duties of the Office.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the County Board authorizes an emergency appropriation in the amount of $145,300 per the attached chart of accounts, to be used for the purchase of an additional 100 ePollbooks from Robis, Inc, Wheaton, Illinois.
