HRSA Dental Grant Update
We were recently informed by HRSA that we were not awarded the $300,000 dental operations grant we applied for. As reported at the September 12, 2019 meeting, those funds were earmarked for upgrades to our North Chicago location. We will continue to look for other funding. There were approximately 14 other sites in Illinois that received grant funding from HRSA during this recent round of awards.
Recruitment
Our North Chicago location will finally be fully staffed as we are in the final stages of hiring a full-time dentist and are in the process of onboarding a new dental assistant. There is a vacant part-time dental provider position at our North Chicago/Belvidere Medical Building for which we are currently interviewing and hope to select a candidate soon. Thereafter, all sites will be fully staffed.
Dr. Suzanne Kellman Moves to Northshore Location
We officially welcome Dr. Suzanne Kellman to our Northshore location. Dr. Kellman has been a provider at our North Chicago location for the last 2.5 years. With her move, the Northshore dental site is now fully staffed, and we hope to build the patient base and provide full-time access to dental care for our patients in the Highland Park community.
State of Illinois Oral Health Project Conference
I recently attended a conference in Chicago in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Division of Oral Healthcare conference of stakeholders. The State is developing a 5-year oral health plan to serve the needs of its residents.
