Staff Summary
• Lake County has experienced heavy rainfall events on and after September 13, 2019, and inundation of area waterways has resulted in damage to structures and surface grading throughout impacted areas in the unincorporated areas.
• For those flood-related structure repairs and top-dressing necessitating permits, fees are required by ordinance.
• To ensure compliance and provide relief to property owners impacted by this recent flooding, building permit fees will be waived as described in Appendix A.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, on and after September 13, 2019, significant flooding occurred throughout the County of Lake, impacting areas along the Des Plaines River and the Chain of Lakes area; and
WHEREAS, structures and surface grading throughout the County's flooded areas have been damaged by flood waters, necessitating their repair and top-dressing, respectively, following permit issuance; and
WHEREAS, such structure repairs, by ordinance, require the payment of applicable fees; and
WHEREAS, similar resolutions were passed following the 2013 and 2017 flood events, waiving all flood-necessitated building permits; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that, in order to assist in disaster relief to affected properties, such fees shall be waived as provided in Appendix A, attached hereto.
