Joint resolution authorizing a contract with Total Paving and Brick Services, Gurnee, Illinois, for the Asphalt Patching and Seal Coating Project in the amount of $120,175, with renewal options.

 

Staff Summary

                     Public Works owns and operates water supply and sewer main systems, and sewage treatment facilities serving diverse communities throughout the County. 

                     Some facilities and underground systems are located under streets, paved driveways and parking areas which are in need of refurbishment.

                     Some utility breaks occur under pavement and require pavement to be replaced.

                     In accordance with the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, bids were called for by publication for the Asphalt Patching and Seal Coating Project.

                     Three sealed bids were received and publicly opened in the office of Lake County Public Works Department Administration Building on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.

                     Total Paving and Brick Services of Gurnee, IL submitted the lowest responsive and responsible bid.  Unit prices were provided as part of the bid. 

                     The term of the contract will be three years with two one-year renewal options to allow for future projects with services based on approved contracted unit prices.  The future anticipated annual spend is estimated at $250,000 annually.

                     This resolution authorizes the execution of a contract with Total Paving and Brick Services in the amount of $120,175. This project is included in Public Works Fiscal Year 2019 budget.

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, the County of Lake (County) owns and operates water supply and sewer main systems, and sewage treatment facilities serving diverse communities throughout the County; and

                     

WHEREAS, the facilities and underground systems are located under streets, paved driveways and parking areas which are in need of refurbishment; and

 

WHEREAS, some utility breaks occur under pavement and require pavement to be replaced; and

 

WHEREAS, in accordance with the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, bids were called for by publication for the Asphalt Patching and Seal Coating Project; and

 

WHEREAS, three (3) sealed bids were received and publicly opened in the office of the Lake County Public Works Department Administration Building on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at 2:00 p.m.; and

 

WHEREAS, Total Paving and Brick Services, Gurnee, Illinois, is the lowest responsive, responsible bidder in the amount of $120,175; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized and directed to execute a contract with, Total Paving and Brick Services of Gurnee IL, in the amount of $120,175 for the Asphalt Patching and Seal Coating Project and charging the costs thereof to various accounts.
