RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, every 10 years the United States Government completes a decennial census; and

WHEREAS, the next decennial census shall be taken starting April 1, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Federal and State officials rely on population data derived from the decennial census to allocate funds to the County and local units of government; and

WHEREAS, the 2020 census will be used for the congressional, state, legislative, county, and local government reapportionment process and redistricting maps; and

WHEREAS, the 2020 census data will be used to make decisions for infrastructure planning, such as building new schools or roadways, and where to invest in social and welfare programs; and

WHEREAS, businesses will utilize the 2020 census data to determine where to invest in future growth and economic development opportunities; and

WHEREAS, there is a need to ensure a complete and accurate 2020 census count for all of Lake County.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Lake County Board that in accordance with County Board Rules, Section VI., (B), there is hereby created a Special Advisory Group to be known as the "The Lake County Complete County Committee" ("Committee"), to provide direction and advice to ensure an accurate 2020 census count of Lake County residents; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Committee will work with representatives of the federal Census Bureau and with state and local complete count committees to ensure a timely and comprehensive outreach plan to educate Lake County residents as to the importance of a complete and accurate 2020 census count; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Committee will strategically focus on addressing hard to count areas of the county including minority populations, low-income households, immigrant populations, populations with language barriers, and young children; and
