Dental Workforce
We are currently recruiting the following positions:
• Dentist - North Chicago (Full-time and Part-time)
• Dentist - Belvidere (Part-time)
• Dental Assistant - North Chicago (2)
We are currently in the process of moving our North Chicago full-time provider, Dr. Kellman, to our North Shore location. Our Dental Hygienist is currently in orientation and we plan to begin scheduling patients for her the first week of September. The practice manager and I are actively engaged in interviewing for the open Dental Assistant position at North Shore. We hope to soon have North Shore fully staffed so we can begin working toward our goal of 2,700 annual encounters at that site.
HRSA Dental Grant
As you are aware, we applied for a $300,000 grant for dental operations. The notification of grant awards will be in September and, if awarded, we would use that funding to upgrade our North Chicago location. Hopefully, I will have positive news to report to you in October on this pending grant.
Zion Update
Congratulations to the site and staff as they achieved 50% pediatric visits. As of July, there have been 539 visits. Contributing to the increase in peds visits are the peds dental clinic sessions held on Saturdays over the past two months.
Dental Provider Team
Current projects:
• Finalization of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for the upcoming incentive plan for both Dentists and Dental Hygienists
• Development of a workplan to successfully achieve the newly proposed 2020 Dental UDS measure. The current dental sealant measure would be phased out.
• The Dental Hygienist will be included in the Dental Provider Team meetings
• We are actively engaged in conducting a Dental Assistant skills checklist, a requirement for The Joint Commission (TJC)
