Special recognition honoring Lake County Sheriff’s Canine (K-9) Deputy Dax for his achievements.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, the Lake County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit has four dogs on its force; and
WHEREAS, K9 Dax was deputized as a Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy on August 12, 2016; and
WHEREAS, during his four years on the force working with his handler Deputy John Forlenza, K9 Dax has played a vital role in the Sheriff’s Office and the Lake County community by locating more than 80 missing people and fleeing offenders; and
WHEREAS, K9 Dax has been instrumental in finding and seizing more than 17 kilos of cocaine, heroin, and other narcotics, hundreds of pounds of illegally possessed cannabis, and dozens of firearms and vehicles; and
WHEREAS, K9 Dax has earned several prestigious awards including: The 100 Club of Chicago Valor Award, the Chicago Crime Commission Paws of Distinction Award, and the ASIS International Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County community has rallied around K9 Dax to help him achieve the American Humane Law-Enforcement Hero Dog Award, and with their continued support, are helping him reach the National Hero Dog Finalist Award.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ACKNOWLEDGED, that this Lake County Board does hereby recognize K9 Dax for his multiple awards and the work he does to keep Lake County safe.
