Staff Summary

•                     In May 2019, the Lake County Board authorized a contract with RHMG Engineers, Inc. for the Supplementary Planning Work for Vernon Hills Water System Reservoir to investigate four project sites.

•                     Change Order Number One is to eliminate two sites to be investigated according to initial screening and identification of alternative reservoir sites and coordination with Village of Vernon Hills.

•                     In accordance with Article 8, section 101(2) of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, the change order was not reasonably foreseeable at the time the contract was signed.

•                     This Change Order authorizes and directs the County Purchasing Agent to execute a contract change order with RHMG Engineers, Inc. reducing the original contract value by $11,797 from $41,705 to $29,908.

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, in March 2017, the Lake County Public Works Director authorized a contract with RHMG Engineers, Inc., Mundelein, Illinois for preliminary planning to establish a reservoir in the Vernon Hills water system; and

WHEREAS, in May 2019, the Lake County Board authorized an additional contract with RHMG Engineers, Inc., Mundelein, Illinois for further study and planning in the amount of $41,705; and

WHEREAS, Contract Modification Number One is requested to limit the scope of the project to assess fewer potential sites. This Contract Modification reduces the original contract value by $11,797 from $41,705 to $29,908; and

WHEREAS, in accordance with Article 8, Section 101 (2) of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, this Change Order is germane to the original contract as signed and is in the best interest of Lake County. It is hereby requested that the Purchasing Agent be authorized to enter into Contract Modification Number One; and

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that the Purchasing Agent is authorized to enter into a Contract Modification One with RHMG Engineers, Inc., in an amount of $11,797 for limited planning scope and decreases the contract amount by $11,797 for a total contract value of $29,908.
