Special recognition of Amy McEwan for her service as Interim County Administrator.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Amy McEwan has served Lake County with utmost dedication from the beginning of her service in 2006 to the present day, first as Assistant County Administrator until 2010 and then as Deputy County Administrator beginning in December 2010; and
WHEREAS, Amy McEwan, with great resolve, stepped into the role of Interim County Administrator in October 2018 and over the last nine months has essentially performed the work of two people capably and diligently, always exhibiting grace under pressure; and
WHEREAS, Amy McEwan was instrumental in providing needed support to help newly elected board members and the newly elected County Clerk, County Treasurer and County Sheriff get up to speed in their roles, as well as providing guidance in the creation of the County Board’s new Energy and Environment Committee, and going above and beyond in making herself available to respond to elected officials; and
WHEREAS, Amy McEwan oversaw and provided thoughtful leadership and staff support and resources for major Lake County initiatives, including the new integrated case management system, the MacArthur Foundation criminal justice grant, and the employee recruitment and retention study; and
WHEREAS, Amy McEwan provided professional expertise in the creation of new policies designed to improve transparency, including vendor disclosure and purchasing disclosure policies, as well as direction and guidance in updating the County’s strategic plan and in strategic facility master planning; and
WHEREAS, Amy McEwan handled several crisis situations with professional calm and expertise, including the closure of County facilities due to record-cold temperatures in January 2019, a chemical spill in Beach Park in April 2019, and a factory explosion in Waukegan; and
WHEREAS, Amy McEwan has been committed to expanding employee engagement efforts, including developing opportunities for employees to give meaningful feedback and initiating opportunities for employees to provide after-work volunteer service to local nonprofit organizations; and
WHEREAS, Amy McEwan is known and respected by Lake County board members, elected officials and employees for her thoughtful, measured and results-oriented approach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RECOGNIZED, the Lake County Board does hereby thank Amy McEwan for her outstanding devotion and leadership to Lake County during this time of transition, and looks forward to her continuing her exceptional service to Lake County for many years to come;
