Body

Zion Outreach Project

As of May 31, 2019, 486 pediatric dental visits were completed at our Zion location. Of this number, 359 were unduplicated patients. On June 22, 2019 we conducted a pediatric only clinic session in conjunction with Dr. Kenneth Soyemi, flex pediatrician. We completed 11 patient visits. Four additional Saturday pediatric clinic sessions have been scheduled for July and August. We are currently in the last quarter of our grant.

Ongoing activities:

Patient Access Center (PAC) conducting outreach to pediatric patients without a dental visit

Confirmation calls are being done daily

Dental services are being offered to medical patients at the time of their visit

Double booking of pediatric dental visits

Marketing campaign to promote the events mentioned above

                     Phone outreach event

Staffing Updates

Currently, we are recruiting for the following positions:

                     Dentist - North Chicago

Dental Hygienist - Belvidere Medical Building (BMB)/North Chicago

Dental Assistant - North Shore (Highland Park)

Dr. Suzanne Kellman, full-time dental provider at our North Chicago location, will be moving to our North Shore location in August.

We are working with a dental hygienist candidate for our BMB/Midlakes location.

Dental Residents within the Community Health Center (CHC)

I am in the exploratory stages of investigating the use of dental residents within the CHC. I recently communicated with New York University/Longhorn Medical Center in New York. They have a dental residency program covering approximately 30 states whereby they would place residents within CHC and pay the salary of the resident. This could be a way for us to recruit dentists. Revenue generated by the residents would be retained by us.
