Staff Summary

                     In accordance with Public Act 100-0987, a new fee will be collected beginning July 1, 2019, which is to be deposited in the Public Defender Records Automation Fund.

                     The amounts in this fund are to be used to defray the expense of establishing and maintaining automated record keeping systems in the offices of the Public Defender.

                     Expenditures from this fund may be made by the Public Defender for hardware, software, and research and development related to automated record keeping systems.

                     This resolution establishes the Public Defender Records Automation Fund.

RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, Public Act 100-0987 allows for the imposition of a fee to discharge the expenses of the Public Defender’s office for establishing and maintaining automated record keeping systems; and

 

WHEREAS, revenue related to this fee and allowable expenditures including hardware, software, research, and development costs and personnel related to automated record keeping systems, should be accounted for in a unique special revenue fund, namely the Public Defender Records Automation Fund; and

 

WHEREAS, it is necessary to establish a special revenue fund for this purpose.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that a new fund, namely the Public Defender Records Automation Fund, will be created.
