Staff Summary
• In accordance with Public Act 100-0987, a new fee will be collected beginning July 1, 2019, which is to be deposited in the Public Defender Records Automation Fund.
• The amounts in this fund are to be used to defray the expense of establishing and maintaining automated record keeping systems in the offices of the Public Defender.
• Expenditures from this fund may be made by the Public Defender for hardware, software, and research and development related to automated record keeping systems.
• This resolution establishes the Public Defender Records Automation Fund.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Public Act 100-0987 allows for the imposition of a fee to discharge the expenses of the Public Defender’s office for establishing and maintaining automated record keeping systems; and
WHEREAS, revenue related to this fee and allowable expenditures including hardware, software, research, and development costs and personnel related to automated record keeping systems, should be accounted for in a unique special revenue fund, namely the Public Defender Records Automation Fund; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to establish a special revenue fund for this purpose.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that a new fund, namely the Public Defender Records Automation Fund, will be created.
