Title
Illinois Department of Human Services Prescription Drug Overdose Program Grant - Pfister
Body
The Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center (LCHD/CHC) has an active grant for state fiscal year 2019 (July 1, 2018-June 30, 2019) to support prescription drug overdose prevention activities in Lake County including the distribution of Naloxone. The grant is awarded through the Illinois Department of Human Services Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery. On May 8, 2019, LCHD/CHC was informed that it had been awarded an additional $25,000 through this program. The purchase would need to occur before the end of the grant year. Given this timeline, and the absence of a Board of Health meeting in June, LCHD/CHC is bringing this agenda item to the Board in May for approval subject to contract approval by the State. The new funding will support the purchase of additional Naloxone and offset some administrative costs.
Suggested Motion
To approve the additional grant funding of $25,000 from the Illinois Department of Human Services Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery to support the prescription drug overdose program subject to contract approval by the State.
