R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Weiland Road, County Highway 73, is a designated route on the County highway system; and
WHEREAS, to ensure the free flow of traffic and the safety and welfare of the traveling public, Lake County is desirous of improving Weiland Road, from Deerfield Parkway to Aptakisic Road, by reconstruction and widening, inclusive of non-motorized improvements; and
WHEREAS, the RAILROAD owns and operates facilities within the RAILROAD right-of-way and within the limits of the Weiland Road improvements; and
WHEREAS, the Weiland Road improvements will require the RAILROAD to make improvements to its facilities which include the installation of temporary and permanent signals and gates; and
WHEREAS, Lake County will reimburse the RAILROAD for its work, estimated to be $338,000; and
WHEREAS, Lake County and the RAILROAD are desirous of entering into an agreement stating the terms and conditions for improvements to RAILROAD facilities necessary to accommodate the reconstruction and widening of Weiland Road, from Deerfield Parkway to Aptakisic Road, a draft copy attached hereto; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County, be authorized, and they are hereby directed to execute an agreement, and any amendments, with the RAILROAD, stating the terms and conditions for improvements to RAILROAD facilities necessary to accommodate the reconstruction and widening of Weiland Road, from Deerfield Parkway to Aptakisic Road.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement, and any subsequent amendments, to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is appropriated $410,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds, and designated as Section 18-00158-13-WR.
