Resolution authorizing an agreement with Ramboll, Chicago, Illinois, (Ramboll) for asbestos consulting services for the Lake County administrative building.
Staff Summary
• Lake County has identified the need for asbestos abatement consulting services for the removal of asbestos-containing materials (ACM) (acoustical plaster, floor tile and associated mastic and thermal system insulation) from the print shop, training room and phone room in the basement of the Lake County administrative building.
• The scope of work consists of environmental design and oversight services to abate ACM before construction work can begin to replace the Administrative Tower and Court Complex Fire Pump and transfer switch. Ramboll will design and oversee the removal of ACM to allow access for modifications scheduled for the Fire Pump replacement project.
• It is anticipated that the work will be completed during non-working hours (evening and weekends).
• Ramboll, which has been identified by staff as the most qualified firm to provide the services, may be selected directly by the County based on a satisfactory relationship in accordance with the Local Government Professional Services Selection Act.
• The contract for asbestos consulting services, estimated at $54,625, was included and budgeted as part of the Fiscal Year 2019 Capital Improvement Program.

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Lake County has identified the need for asbestos abatement consulting services for the removal of asbestos-containing materials (ACM) (acoustical plaster, floor tile and associated mastic and thermal system insulation) from the print shop, training room and phone room in the basement of the Lake County administrative building; and
WHEREAS, the scope of work consists of asbestos project design and asbestos project management and air sampling services; and
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the work will be done during non-working hours (evening and weekends); and
WHEREAS, Ramboll, which has been identified by staff as the most qualified firm to provide the services, may be selected directly by the County based on a satisfactory relationship in accordance with the Local Government Professional Services Selection Act; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that the Purchasing Agent is authorized and directed to execute on behalf of Lake County, an agreement, and any amendments, between Ramboll, Chicago, Illinois, in the amount of $54,625,for Asbestos Consulting Services for the Lake County administrative building.
