Special recognition honoring the life, service, and dedication of Stephan A. Kaminsky to the Veterans of Lake County.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Stephan Andrew Kaminsky was born on April 22, 1945, and joined the United States Navy in November of 1963, serving his country in Vietnam before being honorably discharged in 1967; and
WHEREAS, upon his return from service, Stephan A. Kaminsky joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), taking part in numerous activities to support veterans of the United States Armed Forces and educate citizens of Lake County, Illinois, on the uniqueness of veterans; and
WHEREAS, while a member of Libertyville Memorial VFW Post 8741, he continued his involvement with the community as a member of the Post Color Guard and Honor Guard; and
WHEREAS, Stephan A. Kaminsky held numerous leadership positions within VFW Post 8741 during his tenure, including Junior Vice Commander, Senior Vice Commander, and Commander where he guided and led Post 8741 in assisting multiple veteran programs within Lake County; and
WHEREAS, Stephan A. Kaminsky further created a welcoming and nurturing environment for the youth of Libertyville and was instrumental in mentoring three youths who won the State of Illinois Fifth District VFW Voice of Democracy Essay Competition, of which one youth went on to compete in the National Voice of Democracy Competition in Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, Stephan A. Kaminsky passed away on January 7, 2019.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RECOGNIZED, Mr. Kaminsky’s life fundamentally impacted the citizens, veterans, and families of Lake County for the better; and
BE IT FURTHER RECOGNIZED, the Lake County Board honors the life, service, and sacrifice of Stephan A. Kaminsky and extends its sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
