Staff Summary
* The County Board, at its meeting of February 14, 2017, approved an appropriation of $180,000 of 1/4% Sales Tax for Transportation funds and a consultant agreement with AECOM Technical Services, Inc., Chicago, Illinois, at a maximum cost of $148,475.25 for the Butterfield Road Adaptive Traffic Signal Control Study and Design.
* Change Order Number One is needed for additional engineering services to redesign the traffic signals to incorporate Flashing Yellow Arrow signal heads that were not part of the original scope of work.
* The project will bring Flashing Yellow Arrow technology to Lake County for the first time with the goal of reducing traffic delays and driver frustration while improving intersection safety.
* Flashing Yellow Arrow has become a standard operation across the country, including neighboring counties, other areas of Illinois, and nearby states.
* The Lake County Division of Transportation has received a $2.1 million federal grant to cover up to 80 percent of the project construction cost.

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Butterfield Road, County Highway 57, is a designated route on the County highway system; and

WHEREAS, the County Board, at its meeting on February 14, 2017, approved $180,000, of 1/4% Sales Tax for Transportation funds for studying and designing the advanced Adaptive Traffic Signal Control technology on Butterfield Road, from Allanson Road to Illinois Route 137; and

WHEREAS, this project is currently under contract with AECOM Technical Services, Inc., Chicago, Illinois, in the amount of $148,475.25; and

WHEREAS, Change Order Number One, in the amount of $99,787.75, includes additional engineering services needed to incorporate Flashing...
