Staff Summary
• The United States Department of Labor Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) Program provides aid to workers who have become unemployed as a result of increased imports from, or shifts in production to, foreign countries.
• Workforce Development Department delivers reemployment services and programs to assist unemployed workers to prepare for and obtain suitable employment.
• The annual TAA grant covers expenses related to career and occupational training including tuition, supplies, training-related consumables, transportation assistance, and relocation allowances; in addition to expenses associated with facilitation of these payments.
• A total of 24 unemployed workers from 10 TAA events will be served with this grant.
• The grant term is October 1, 2018 through September 30, 2019.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The DCEO has provided a TAA grant totaling $301,321.08 to the Lake County Workforce Development Department; and,
WHEREAS, this grant is for the program period of October 1, 2018 through September 30, 2019; and
WHEREAS, this funding covers expenses related to tuition, supplies, transportation assistance, and payment processing; and
WHEREAS, an emergency appropriation of $301,321.08 is requested to allocate these funds into Workforce Development Department’s budget and authorize acceptance of this grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that an emergency appropriation in the amount of $301.321.08 for Workforce Development is hereby approved and that the Trade Adjustment Assistance grant modification be accepted.
