Resolution recognizing Jeff Werfel for his years of service as a Lake County Board Member.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Jeff Werfel was elected to the Lake County Board and the Lake County Forest Preserves District Board in November 2014; and
WHEREAS, Jeff Werfel earned his master’s degree in business administration at Loyola University Chicago and his bachelor of arts degree in government at Georgetown University; and
WHEREAS, Jeff Werfel served the residents of District 6 by prioritizing economic development and job creation, fiscal responsibility, innovative and efficient government management, transportation, and sustainability; and
WHEREAS, as a Lake County Board member, Jeff Werfel served on various committees including as the vice-chair of the Ad-Hoc Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and as a member of the Planning, Building, and Zoning Committee, Public Works and Transportation Committee, and the Ad-Hoc Legislative Committee; and
WHEREAS, Jeff Werfel played an instrumental role in several road and transportation improvements in and near District 6, including the Rollins Road Gateway Project, the Peterson Road widening and improvement project, the Washington Street Thoroughfare Project, and the repaving of Center Street; and
WHEREAS, as a member of the Public Works and Transportation Committee, Jeff Werfel supported the Belvidere Road Corridor Road Capacity Plan, working with six municipalities in Lake County on establishing an intergovernmental agreement; and
WHEREAS, in his tenure on the Planning, Building, and Zoning Committee, Jeff Werfel exercised leadership in supporting and promoting shared service opportunities with local area governments. He upheld the paramount value of customer service in his support and promotion of streamlining development review and the utilization of technology improvements to advance the customer experience with the County’s permitting operations; and
WHEREAS, Jeff Werfel made significant contributions to ensuring Lake County has a balanced, fiscally responsible budget, a stable tax levy, minimal debt, and a AAA credit rating; and
WHEREAS, Jeff Werfel served on the Lake County Forest Preserves District Board as the assistant treasurer, Rules Committee chairman, and as a Planning Committee member; and
WHEREAS, Jeff Werfel has held various political positions, including trustee of the Village of Grayslake and precinct committeeman; and
WHEREAS, Jeff Werfel had an unwavering commitment to civic involvement serving on the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and as a member of the Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency Board of Directors, and Conserve Lake County; and
WHEREAS, as a member of the Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency, Jeff Werfel helped institute the expansion of Lake Michigan water to Grandwood Park and Lake Villa with anticipated expansion in Fox Lake Hills; and
WHEREAS, Jeff Werfel has been a resident of Grayslake since 1998, and has been active in multiple community organizations including the Grayslake and Round Lake Area Chambers of Commerce, Grayslake Historical Society, and Grayslake Exchange Club; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lake County Board offers its gratitude and appreciation to Jeff Werfel for his public service to the residents of District 6 and Lake County; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Board offers its best wishes in his future endeavors.
