Staff Summary
*? At its July 2017 meeting, the Lake County Board authorized a contract with Thyssenkrupp Elevator, in the amount of $598,915 for elevator modernization of two detention elevators at the adult detention center in Waukegan.
* At its December 2017 meeting, the Lake County Board authorized Change Order Number One with Thyssenkrupp Elevator, in the amount of $249,801 to include the original bid alternate for additional modernization tasks of the adult detention's visitor's elevator.
* The modernization scope of work did not include the replacement of the light fixtures for cabs and a new brake coil and solenoid for visitor's elevator, both of which are germane and will improve the performance of the elevator
* Additional position indicator lights and fireman's control panel items are necessary to comply with new building code and Jail operations.
* As the work is currently ongoing under the awarded contract, staff has verified that the request for the change order is in the best interests of the County and Thyssenkrupp Elevator will be able to complete the work for the price submitted.
* In accordance with Article 8, Section 101 (1) of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, it is hereby requested that the Purchasing Agent be authorized to enter into Change Order Number Two for the additional tasks related to jail elevator modernization.
* This resolution authorizes Change Order Number Two with Thyssenkrupp Elevator in the amount $75,667.26 and will be managed by the Facilities Department.
