RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Lake County Planning, Building and Development Department participates in the Community Rating System (CRS), offered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as an optional program for communities participating in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP); and
WHEREAS, the CRS program offers flood insurance premium discounts to residents of communities that have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to protecting residents and reducing flood damages; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County Planning, Building and Development Department is required to apply for CRS recertification annually, before February 1st of each year; and
WHEREAS, a requirement of annual recertification is to compile an Annual Evaluation Report of the All Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan for Unincorporated Lake County, Illinois, summarizing the implementation of the goals described in the All Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan; and
WHEREAS, the report is required to be submitted to the governing body as part of the annual CRS recertification, made available on the Lake County Planning, Building and Development Department website, and a press release is required to be issued.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lake County Board accepts the Annual Evaluation Report of the All Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan for Unincorporated Lake County, Illinois and directs the Planning, Building and Development Department to make the report available on the department’s website and issue a press release.
