Title
Proposed Revisions to the Lake County Health Department Animal Care and Control Fees Schedule (as authorized in Lake County Code of Ordinances Chapter 178) - Kritz
Body
Under the Domestic Animal Impoundment Fees section, the fee for a distemper vaccination is being added. The distemper vaccine is recommended and is frequently provided along with the rabies vaccination. The revision to the fee schedule codifies the $10 fee and language added specifies that the distemper vaccination is only at the owner’s request (i.e., is not mandatory).
Under the Animal Relinquishment Fees Section, the fee for relinquishing an adoptable dog or cat, and the fee for relinquishing an unadoptable cat are proposed to be increased to $50. This increase is proposed to compensate for a recent increase in the fee that LCHD pays to Orphans of the Storm for taking dogs or cats for adoption, which was also increased to $50.
Lastly, under the two sections that pertain to trapping wildlife and domestic animals, language is added to clarify the terms under which LCHD staff will trap wildlife, and under which LCHD will issue traps to the public.
A public hearing was held on October 9, 2018 to receive comments on the proposed changes. No comments were received.
Suggested Motion
To approve the revisions to Lake County Health Department Animal Care and Control Fees Schedule as proposed.
