Resolution authorizing the Public Works Department to add two new positions, at starting salaries above the positions’ midpoint paygrade levels and an accrual of four weeks of vacation, as a result of an Intergovernmental Agreement with Lakes Region Sanitary District (LRSD).

 

Staff Summary

                     The County entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement with LRSD to provide sanitary services.

                     Two individuals, employed by LRSD as a Public Works Supervisor and a Lead Utility Worker, will become County employees and will continue to perform the same duties,  receive the same salary and vacation they had accrued with LRSD and will receive all other fringe benefits available to County employees holding similar positions.

                     The pay grade of the Public Works Supervisor position, classified as M9, holds a pay range between $73,892 and $114,448.  The individual will be hired at a salary of $95,472, $98 above the midpoint pay range.

                     The pay grade of the Lead Utility Worker position, classified as a union pay grade, holds a pay range between $58,085.54 and $67,435.51.  The individual will be hired at a salary of $78,871, $11,435.49 above the maximum pay range.

                      Funding for these two positions will be provided by LRSD.

RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, Lake County entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement with Lakes Region Sanitary District to provide sanitary services; and

 

WHEREAS, there are two employees who are employed with the Lakes Region Sanitary District who currently perform the work; and

 

WHEREAS, Lake County will add two positions, Public Works Supervisor pay grade M9-$73,892-$114,448 and Lead Utility Worker union pay grade $58,085.54-$67,435.51, to the Public Work’s Department Operating Budget to perform the additional work; and

 

WHEREAS, Lake County will hire two employees to fill the newly created positions that currently perform the work at Lakes Region Sanitary District; and

 

WHEREAS, Lake County will compensate the individual hired to fill the Lead Utility Worker position at an annual salary of $78,871 which is above the maximum of the assigned pay grade; and

 

WHEREAS, Lake County will give the individuals hired from the Lakes Region Sanitary District who fill the aforesaid positions credit for service with the Lakes Region Sanitary District for the purpose of vacation accrual, granting them four weeks of vacation annually.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lake County Board authorizes the Public Works Department to add the positions of Public Works Supervisor pay grade M9-$73,892-$114,448 and Lead Utility Worker union pay grade $58,085.54-$67,435.51, to the Public Works Department Operating Budget; hire the Lead Utility Worker above the maximum of the assigned pay grade, $78,871 and; grant the individuals hired from the  Lakes Region Sanitary District who fill the aforesaid positions credit for service with the Lakes Region Sanitary District for the purpose of annual vacation accrual, granting them four weeks of vacation annually.
