Staff summary
* As a local government, the County faces cyber-attacks that are evolving in sophistication and potential impact, threatening data breaches as well as disruption of critical operations. In an effort to secure the County's email and Office 365 environment, Enterprise Information Technology (IT) is seeking Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) from Microsoft.
* While prevention is key and will be addressed by Enterprise IT through efforts with a managed security service provider, Microsoft ATP targets its' breach prevention by blocking documents and email with dangerous links and attachments.
* The contract amount, which is $14,791 for the remainder of 2018, will be $59,133 annually for years two and three. Year one of the contract will be funded through the IT Contingency Fund, years two and three will be funded through the IT Operating Budget.
* In accordance with Section 10-101 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, the County Purchasing Division has identified a competitively solicited and awarded cooperative purchasing contract for Microsoft Advanced Threat Protection offered by CDW, Vernon Hills, Illinois, through the State of Illinois Central Management Services.

WHEREAS, as a local government, the County faces cyber-attacks that are evolving in sophistication and potential impact, threatening data breaches as well as disruption of critical operations; and
