Joint resolution ratifying contracts with McClure Engineering, Waukegan, Illinois, in the amount of $24,662.83, and Campanella and Sons, Inc., Wadsworth, Illinois, in the amount of $374,900.89, for an emergency procurement required to replace two failing storm sewers under the Robert McClory Bike Path south of Washington Street and south of Belvidere Rd in Waukegan, Illinois, appropriating $400,000 of County Bridge Tax funds for these contracts and other associated costs, and designated as Section 17-00173-15-DR.

 

Staff Summary

                     On November 1, 2017, the County Engineer declared an emergency for two failing storm sewers south of Washington Street, and south of Belvidere Road in Waukegan, Illinois.

                     The failing storm sewers have resulted in the formation of sink holes within the path right-of-way at both locations.

                     In accordance with Article 6-103 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, the County Engineer of Lake County certified an emergency procurement for contractual construction services.

                     The firms selected to provide emergency contractual construction services are McClure Engineering, in the amount of $24,662.83, and Campanella and Sons, Inc., in the amount of $374,900.89.

                     This resolution, per Article 6-103 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, ratifies these emergency procurement contracts.

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, the Robert McClory Bike Path is a designated route on the County bike path system; and

 

WHEREAS, failing storm sewers south of Washington Street, and south of Belvidere Road in Waukegan, Illinois, have resulted in the formation of sink holes within the path right-of-way at both locations, causing a safety hazard for the traveling public; and

 

WHEREAS, on November 1, 2017, in accordance with Article 6-103 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, the County Engineer of Lake County declared that an emergency existed and certified an emergency procurement; and

 

WHEREAS, contracts with McClure Engineering, Waukegan, Illinois, in the amount of $24,662.83 and Campanella and Sons, Inc., Wadsworth, Illinois, in the amount of $374,900.89, have been awarded to implement the determined repairs to the storm sewers; and

 

WHEREAS, an appropriation of funds is needed.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that the emergency procurement authorized by, and effectuated through, the County Engineer for construction services with McClure Engineering, Waukegan, Illinois, in the amount of $24,662.83 and Campanella and Sons, Inc., Wadsworth, Illinois, in the amount of $374,900.89 are ratified; a draft copy of said contracts are attached hereto.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is hereby appropriated $400,000 of County Bridge Tax funds to replace two failing storm sewers under the Robert McClory Bike Path south of Washington Street and south of Belvidere Rd in Waukegan, Illinois, and designated as Section 17-00173-15-DR.
