Staff Summary
* The County owns and operates the existing Brooks Farm water system, a groundwater well-supplied public water system, serving approximately 500 single-family residences within the Prairie Pointe subdivision.
* The Village operates a public water system, directly adjacent to Prairie Pointe, that is sourced by Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency (CLCJAWA).
* The County and the Village have negotiated terms for an intergovernmental agreement to share the estimated $50,000 cost to construct and install an interconnection between the County and Village water systems.
* The interconnection will allow the County and Village to supply water to each other when repairs are made or during emergency situations when the normal source of supply is unavailable.
* The Village approved the intergovernmental agreement at its June 2018 Village Board meeting.

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, the County of Lake (County) owns and operates the Brooks Farm water system; and

WHEREAS, the Village of Round Lake (Village) owns and operates a public water distribution system in the vicinity of the County's Brooks Farm water system; and

WHEREAS, the County and the Village desire to enter into an intergovernmental agreement to provide an interconnection between the County and Village water systems for system maintenance and emergency purposes; and

WHEREAS, the appropriate agreement to authorize the interconnection has been prepared, and ratified by the Village of Round Lake; and

WHEREAS, execution of this Agreement must be authorized by resolution of this County Board.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Chair of the County Board and the Clerk of said County be and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute the ...
